About

Our story begins in 1984 when two young architects—Jeffery Eckert and Rick Wordell—embraced their entrepreneurial spirit and opened their own architecture firm in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Over the next few decades, we added people to our team and our services expanded to include a full range of facility programming, planning, design, and engineering services.

Today, we are still located in Kalamazoo and our focus remains on providing outstanding design solutions that address the needs of our clients locally and around the country. We have also had the honor of working on several iconic facilities in our home town including the Rotary Stage in Bronson Park, Miller Canfield office building, KVCC’s Culinary & Allied Health Building, and the Foundry.

The story of us goes beyond the origins of our firm and the design solutions we provide. It is also a tale of care and commitment for each other and our community. Whether it is through donations or volunteer activities that we do as a group, we are committed to the continued growth, development, and well-being of our community and the people who call it home.

Our story is diverse and wonderful. We started small and have continued to grow and evolve to reflect our clients and our team. Based on our history, we are certain the next chapter will be epic!
